Roy Beeson is a photographer and filmmaker based in New York City. Raised in Atlanta, Georgia, with close family ties to New Orleans, he studied English and Creative Writing at the University of Georgia in Athens before pursuing a range of work — including counseling, teaching, and documentary editing for public television — that ultimately led him to photography.
He served as first assistant to photographer Ruven Afanador before establishing his own practice in 2011.
In 2017, Beeson co-produced a documentary with photographer Catherine Ledner on her father, modernist architect Albert C. Ledner. The film premiered at Docomomo NYC in conjunction with the Architecture and Design Film Festival, and screened at ADFF festivals in New Orleans, New York, and Los Angeles, as well as festivals in Australia and New Zealand.
